Golden Gate - Croydon District
The town of Golden Gate was the most important on the field outside Croydon.
By 1900 the population was about 600. There were 11 hotels. Substantial remains, mainly mining, still exist. In 1988, the Golden Gate heap leach plant reopened but by 1992, the plant closed.
